Get ready for your visit...
Each type of imaging exam and diagnostic or therapeutic procedure has its own specific guidelines. Special instructions for your exam will be given at the time of scheduling. There are a few general guidelines that apply to all exams offered at Focus.
 
General Guidelines
bulletBring prior Diagnostic details (i.e. x-rays / scans / discharge summary) with you to the exam if you are instructed       to do so.

bulletArrive 15 minutes early to verify your registration information and provide further health information for your       exam.
bulletWear comfortable, metal-free clothing; be prepared to change into a patient gown if necessary.

bulletNotify your physician and Focus staff if there is any chance that you may be pregnant or are currently
      breastfeeding.

bulletDiscuss any special needs, such as dietary and/or physical limitations, with us in advance.

bulletDialysis patients should plan to be dialyzed within 24 hours following IV contrast .

bulletCheck with us in advance about recovery time or the need for a driver so you can make necessary arrangements       with work and family.

bulletPlease tell either the scheduler or the technologist if you have any previous history of iodine allergies, or if you       are a diabetic.

bulletLiquids and/or a light meal are recommended 1 - 2 hours prior to your injection. Do not eat or drink anything 4       hours prior to your procedure if you are receiving sedation / anaesthesia.

bulletYou will need a driver for your appointment. (Exception: MRI Arthrograms of the knee, shoulder or wrist.) If you       are unable to arrange transportation, call us for assistance.
 
Preparation for CT Scan
CT patients may require IV and / or oral contrast . Please review with your physician and/or Focus Imagingstaff if you have any question regarding contrast.

Patients requiring IV Contrast :
  1. Patients with asthma , diabetes, kidney diseases, severe allergies, or a history of prior contrast reaction , must notify the front desk staff and /or technologist prior to their exam.
  2. Patients with prior adverse contrast reaction MUST have their referring physician contact our office about premedication
    Patients over 65 years MUST have lab results for BUN and CREATININE within the previous 30 days.
  3. Patients with a history of diabetes or kidney disease MUST have lab results for BUN and CREATININE within the previous 30 days.
  4. Patients on Glucophage or Glucovance should withhold these medications for 48 hours following IV contrast (Consult your physician before restarting ).
Patients requiring oral contrast:
If your doctor has requested an abdominal CT you may have to prepare by drinking a contrast solution ( Barium ) prior the exam . you wil have to pick up bottles of the prep solution prior to your scheduled exam at 3T Imaging . Please call us if u have any questions.
 
Preparation for MRI Scan
  1. Abdominal MRI , Pelvic MRI and MRCP patients should fast for at least 4 hours before the exam.
  2. Patients receiving IV contrast should fast 4 hours before the exam.
  3. Patients with pacemakers MUST NOT have MRI examinations.
Please contact us as soon as possible if you have a history of the following:

  1. Brain aneusrysm clips.
  2. Artificial heart valve.
  3. Metal in your eyes .
  4. cochlear implants on ear tubes.
  5. Other implantale devices.
  6. Most surgically placed orthopedic devices are MRI compatible .
Please call us if you have any question about MRI safety.
 
Preparation for Ultrasound
  1. Abdominal and gallbladder ultrasound patients should fast at least 6 hours before the exam (no food or drink).
  2. Diabetic and pregnant patients may eat a light meal prior to their scan.
  3. Pelvic Ultrasound patients must come to their appointment with a full bladder .Patient should drink 32 oz of water one hour prior to the exam and not empty their bladder.
  4. Please call us if you have any questions.
 
Medical Records and Results
You can confirm the time to collect your exam films and reports from the reception. Our specialist will discuss the results with your physician or vice-versa.

If you have questions about your exam and have not been contacted by Focus, please feel free to call the center where your exam or procedure is taking place.
