It would be appropriate to state today that India is posed to become the preferred healthcare destination of not only the developing but also the developed nations primarily due to its highly qualified manpower and affordable costs.

The healthcare industry in India has seen a paradigm shift in the last decade with significant corporatization of the healthcare business. The path shown by the Apollo Group has been replicated by various corporate including Max Healthcare, Fortis Group, Wockhardt, Manipal Group and several regional players.

The concept of medical tourism has picked up momentum and various hospitals are going in for requisite accreditations with Apollo Delhi leading the way with the covered JCI accreditations. It would not be long before multibillion dollar industry will blossom given India’s proven qualified medical manpower available at 1/10th of the cost in comparison to developed countries - a business process outsourcing of a different kind.
